The Importance of Education
In Mesquite ISD, our mission is to educate all students and empower them to expand their opportunities. We believe that education is the most important factor in determining each child’s future. As parents, what are your thoughts on the importance of education and the role it plays?

I absolutely believe in education and the importance of education. Tell me how you can teach a student math and not supply them books? It is impossible as a parent to help a student when you have NO reference! Who made that decision and why? - Sheila

ReplyDeleteI agree about every class has a set of textbooks and students may check out a book at any time. In my class we use web access so much and the textbboks are old so the information is out of date (Geography). I ask the student if they have web access at home to complete the information. The main problem is student absences and they are not part of the learning environment, so I post all powerpoints and assignments on elearn so students may access the classroom presentations at home.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your response. Your use of technology must be very helpful to your students and promotes engagement in learning. We look forward to finding additional ways to integrate technology within and out of the classroom into instruction.
ReplyDeleteI realize this post is older but I hope it will be reviewed.
ReplyDeleteWith regards to technology for the classroom. I know of Wylie and their use of electronic grade books. A friend can see assignments and grades for her son at any time as their staff are expected to keep it up to date.
Is this something MISD has considered?
We are working this at the present time. All campuses should be using an electronic gradebook beginning the spring semester, January 2011. The parent portal, where parents can access student grades, is to be operational beginning in the fall of 2011. These plans are based on the assumption that everything goes as planned.
ReplyDeleteThat is excellent news! Thanks for responding.
